Statement Belts’ That Will Transform Your Wardrobe

Despite their ability to pull a look together, accessories can sometimes be an afterthought. while shoes and bags get splashy, seasonal updates, and belts are often – criminally, left out of the discussion.

As such, we were pleasantly surprised when statement belts started trending, making appearances on runways and even dominating our Tik-Tok feeds.

If you’re looking to update your wardrobe this season, we highly recommend investing in a classic black belt. The return of the statement belt began on the runway with thick, waist-clinching belts spotted at Max Mara, Tod’s, and Anteprima. These belts were styled over jumpsuits, sweaters, strapless tops, and even outerwear, giving a chic and polished touch to any outfit.

But it doesn’t stop there! Chanel and Hermes took a different approach, showcasing multi-loop chain belts and hybrid leather chain details respectively. Weinsanto added playful charms to their belts, while Saint Laurent focused on creative, oversized buckles.

The runway stamp of approval was just the beginning as Gen-Z breathed new life into statement belts, particularly the chain belt trend during festival season.

Thanks to TikTok’s impeccable timing, celebs and influencers at coachella were seen rocking decorative chain belts as part of their flashy festival ensembles. From ’70s glam-inspired looks to crystal fringe, statements were made. Backed by luxury designers endorsed by TikTok, statement belts are set to make a major comeback this year.

To help you incorporate this trend into your own wardrobe, here are a few ways to style statement belts and dress up any outfit:

Over a coat: Add some glamour to a trench or a long oversized coat by wearing a statement belt over the top. Look for a belt several sizes up or one with some stretch to accommodate the bulk of the coat.

Spice up a suit set: A flashy over the top buckle on a statement belt is a great accessory for anyone who wants to embrace the oversized separates trend without getting lost in an oversized blazer.

For a throwback approach, (a Y2K take) on styling a chain belt, skip the belt loops, and focuses on wrapping the belt as many times as is comfortable. Keep any charms or embellishments facing forward.

Style it on a plain jumpsuit by wearing a chain belt at your waist or hips and layering on loads of gold jewelry to match.

Jazz up your knit dress by adding a corset-waisted belt, and cinch in your waist for a dramatic effect.

Give your jeans outfit a polished finished effect by adding a chic statement belt, designer branded if that’s your thing. One of my all-time favourite’s is this classic Gucci belt.
